SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN SENATOR WEST WAS WORKING WITH THE LEGISLATURE TO TRY TO CHARTER A FOUR-YEAR PUBLIC UNIVERSITY IN SOUTHERN DALLAS COUNTY, THE ONLY ONE IN DALLAS COUNTY, HE APPROACHED THE CITY AND SAID IT WOULD BE A GOOD THING FOR US TO CONTRIBUTE AND MAKE DONATIONS SO IT WOULD SIGNAL TO THE LEGISLATURE AND THE OTHER COMMUNITIES THAT WE WANTED UNT DALLAS DOWN HERE.
